This will be my blog site for the upcoming trip around Oz – The Big Lap. A blog is being used for those family and friends that are not on other social network sites. I will also endeavour to have this blog linked to my FaceBook site - all going well.
Preparations are ongoing. The bike is almost ready. The test camping ride trip a few weeks ago was successful in testing gear, determining what was needed, but also what was not. Gary is helping with setting up a method of carrying extra water - a great help. Robyn has made me some soft rolls for tools that will fit inside the tool tube which I made. I still need to get a couple of items (e.g. oil filter, etc) but basically all the big items have been ticked off.
So departure date currently is set for Friday, 2 July but as this is possibly going to be a long day's ride to meet up with Rod in Moree, I am considering leaving 1 July. Not sure yet, will see how things go. If I do leave on the 1st then I would still meet Rod on 2nd in Moree – just making the first day a little easier.
So I hope you will keep up with my trip and feel jealous that you are not with me. I’ll post some of the plans over the near future – at least the initial period of the trip. Speak soon
