Welcome to My Blog

This is a blog of my trip around Australia by motorbike. I'll endeavour to keep this updated on a regular basis, but there will be days when I'll have no access to the web. So follow my progress, see some pictures and hopefully share my adventure.

Keep in touch by adding comments to the posts or simply give me some feedback.

Day 02 – Sat, 3 Jul to St George QLD

Today was just a transit day to meet up with Rod Vile in St George. Rod was travelling from Lismore on Bruxner Hwy through Goondiwindi then onto St George.

I left Walcha at a brisk 2C with sleet and minor snow flakes falling - yep bl…y cold and uncomfortable. But once underway and dealt with the visor fogging you get into the swing and just progress.

By Inverell the rain had cleared, the roads were still wet and still cold. By Moree the sun was out and the km’s were simply passing by. Crossed into QLD at Mungindi where I stopped for coffee (luckily I had my own because the only thing open was the pub).

I could have fired a gun down the street and not hit anyone for km’s. Crossed the border and was promptly told that I could not keep rabbits as it was a $30,000 fine.Lucky I saw this as I was thinking of adding a rabbit to my top box.

About 30km prior to St George I saw up ahead this motorbike doing a slalom on the road, as I got closer I saw the orange and yep it was Bumble Bee – Rod trying to just cover the last few km’s. How about that for timing – there were grins all round when I pulled up beside him.

Tonight we are in the Riverview Pub – great name but well enough said. Our room is right over the duke box and the locals (I think the group that are not allowed into the other pubs in towns) are currently swinging to Don McLean’s – American Pie which was preceded by Jonnny Horton’s Sink the Bismark and North to Alaska. We only hope the theme from Deliverance is not next.

  1. Hi Dad,
Kim wants to know if you're sick because why else would you have turned into a green motorbike rider in your tracker. :)
